Erica is trained in two different types of bodywork: Acupressure and Pranassage. While these can be done as standalone sessions, her favorite approach is to blend bodywork into a yoga session for a hybrid approach that optimizes the effect.

Acupressure

Acupressure has been used for thousands of years to help resolve imbalances and release any blockages that exist on the energetic pathways of the body and mind.  Through gentle touch, the specific points along these energetic pathways, or meridians, are stimulated to promote healing and balance.  They are the same meridians and points that are targeted in an acupuncture session, however acupressure does not involve needles and often incorporates gentle stretching and massaging of the tissues on and around these acupoints.

Acupressure can help alleviate imbalances including:

  • Sleep problems, such as insomnia and night waking
  • Stress, anxiety and depression
  • Physical aches or restlessness in the body, including back, hips, shoulders, etc.
  • Fatigue/lack of vitality
  • Allergies and sinus problems
  • Digestive issues including nausea, heartburn and constipation
  • Expecting and new mama common discomforts

What to Expect

A full acupressure session typically lasts between 60-75 minutes, but an abridged version can also happen right before final relaxation in a private yoga session.  At the beginning of the session, there will be a short assessment where Erica will ask some questions to learn more specifics about what is bothering you, and she will also read your traditional chinese medicine pulses and have a peek at your tongue.  During the session, you will remain fully clothed.  Erica does a light massage / rubdown of the back and whole body, and will then spend the remainder of the session holding combinations of acupoints that she feels will help you the most. The majority of people find the session very relaxing, and many people fall asleep.

Pranassage

Pranassage is a powerful synthesis of yoga and bodywork that produces deep mental and physical relaxation. In this relaxed state, the practitioner physically moves the receiver’s body into various positions, allowing each position to be felt in an effortless way.

Pranassage works to release the flow of blocked energy, and allows the receiver to fully experience what it means to let go, to “let gravity do all the work”. Your only role in your Pranassage session is to let go and allow yourself to relax deeply.

It creates mobility around the joints, releases muscular tension, and calms the nervous system. Working on a multi-dimensional level, it restores the body, mind and spirit.

What to Expect

Pranassage is offered one-on-one and can be scheduled as either a 60 minute session or incorporated as part of any private yoga or acupressure session.

During a Pranassage session, the receiver wears comfortable clothing while lying on a floor mat.  Erica does all the work to help release your body, while you just focus on relaxing. Many people find it “fills up their cup” more deeply than any massage they have ever received.
